The Village Sound Healer, Bonnie Wan

About Bonnie

  • 'I am a yoga and sound meditation teacher. I have been teaching since 2018 and developed an interest in sound as a way to deepen my meditation practice. Fascinated by how easy and effective sound is as a way to get into a meditative state, I enrolled and completed a 200-hour sound meditation course in 2023.

Sound makes meditation accessible. It is a pure way of using your senses to guide you to a state that allows the body to recalibrate, repair and heal.

My intention is to simply make meditation accessible for all.'

  • 'Quality time spent with my young nieces and nephews, friends and family feed my soul. Being able to relate authentically is the most nourishing.

Learning new skills (playing the gong), new languages (I have recently started Italian lessons!), new cultures, feeds my soul. I find that it unlocks different parts of the brain and I learn more about myself throughout the process.'

  • 'A sound bath is a form a meditation. The intention is to guide the body and mind to a more balanced and meditative state so that it can disengage from discursive thinking and allow the body and mind to do its work. Be that calming, releasing tension or simply deep sleep, if that is what the body needs at the time.

Brain waves are entrained to the frequency of the sounds and vibrations of the gong that leads us to a deep relaxation and meditative state, effecting the body at a physical and energetic level. At this state, we tap into the body’s innate ability to recalibrate and heal.

Sound meditation is one of the easiest and effective ways to get into a meditative state. In spoken language, words can be triggering, the unconscious mind can interfere, and judgement comes in between our practice. However, sound is universal. It is purely a sensory guide to take us to back the present moment.'

  • 'With sound baths, everyone will have their own unique experience. Every individual is different, and we all have our own personal work to do. There might be a level of discomfort when you first get into sound meditation, but as with everything, it gets easier.'

  • Bonnie is available for private one-to-one and group experiences, as well as Sound Healing for events and collaborations.
